Corrections and Complaints

How potential errors, complaints and urgent legal or safety concerns are raised and assessed.

Report a potential error

Identify the Story Thread, the statement at issue, why it may be wrong and any supporting evidence. Formal pre-launch contact details are kept in the Legal and Policies Centre until the dedicated digital corrections route is activated.

Assessment and correction

Coranto compares the concern with the underlying record and further evidence. Supported corrections update the maintained story without silently erasing history.

Visible record

Material corrections are displayed with the continuing report where appropriate and report versions are retained for editorial accountability.

Complaints and escalation

Complaints are assessed according to subject, evidence and risk. Once the dedicated electronic route is live, Coranto’s voluntary service standard is to acknowledge an ordinary editorial complaint within 3 working days where contact details permit and aim for a substantive response or reasoned progress update within 28 calendar days. Urgent legal/safety matters are triaged immediately. These targets do not replace shorter statutory or future regulator deadlines.

Withdrawal is different

Correction repairs a report while preserving it. Withdrawal removes or restricts a report where continued publication is unsafe, unlawful or fundamentally unreliable.

Urgent legal or safety concern

Coranto is not an emergency service. Where publication itself creates an urgent legal or safety concern, use the formal company/contact details in the Legal and Policies Centre and mark correspondence URGENT - PUBLICATION SAFETY. Emergency danger should be reported to the appropriate emergency authority.
